Pickleball

We are Patty Freeman and Donna Rea, and we share a passion for pickleball and staying active. After retiring from our careers, we turned to pickleball to keep us moving and to meet new people. We have been playing for a few years now and have found that the social aspect of the sport has been as rewarding as the physical exercise it provides.

We learned about Mission for Movement and the organization’s work to support individuals with Parkinson’s and were inspired to get involved. As co-directors of the Pickle for Parkinson’s tournament to be held in Baton Rouge on Nov. 2, we can combine our love for the sport with our desire to benefit the community.

One of our most memorable experiences was participating in a senior's pickleball tournament and qualifying to play in the Senior Olympics. We enjoyed a challenging and rewarding experience that wouldn’t have happened for us without pickleball.

We are excited to see how Mission for Movement continues to grow and enhance the lives of those with Parkinson’s. We look forward to leading and participating in the upcoming pickleball tournament, which will be the first major fundraising event to support Mission for Movement.

As we continue our mission of pickleball, we hope to inspire others to join us on the courts and experience the many benefits of this fantastic sport. Together, we can make a difference in our fitness and the health of our community. Our mission is,,,
